Frequently Asked Questions

What’s on your mind…

What is your philosophy on health and fitness?

My goal is to reach individuals where they are (whether in-person and online) through education, goal setting, and motivation. I live and lead from a mindset of whole-body wellness. In my personal and professional opinion, the concept of mind & body encompasses our physical, mentally, and spiritual. I believe it takes all three of those aspects functioning at their highest capacity to allow an individual to truly thrive. Whole-body wellness begins from the inside out.

Do you use pre-made templates or create custom programs?

All of my personal training programming is customized per individual. Clients need and appreciate programs that are tailored specifically to them, not cookie-cutter workouts. Health and wellness are not “one size fits all”.

Are you comfortable working with different age groups and clients who have injuries or medical conditions?

Yes, I truly am. I am proud to share that I have experience working with individuals between the ages of 5 and 76! Also, I have the knowledge and experience to create workouts for those needing adjustments and special consideration due to injuries or particular medical conditions.

How do you assess new clients’ fitness levels and needs?

I perform client assessments during a dedicated consultation at the start of our client/professional relationship. This consultation is complementary for you, prior to the beginning of your paid service.

How do you motivate and engage participants in your class?

I strive to create a positive, motivating, and fun atmosphere for my participants. This focus helps set the tone for our sessions. During personal training sessions and fitness classes, I use positive reinforcement and offer encouragement when needed. Additionally, I stay alert to monitor proper form, intensity levels, and engagement of all participants.

How important is proper form and technique when performing exercises?

Extremely important! It’s my belief that proper form and technique are essential for safety, injury prevention, and maximizing results when performing exercises, whether it be strength training or taking a class. As a fitness professional, I always demonstrate the movement when possible and provide verbal cues to ensure my participants are utilizing correct form & technique. I offer modifications or adjustments when I see a client struggling with an exercise to make sure they get most out of the movement without sacrificing proper alignment.

Are you familiar with the latest trends in personal training and group fitness instruction?

Yes, I focus on staying up to date with the latest trends in the fitness industry. I am able to do this by attending training (online and in-person), reading industry publications, and seeking related data from reputable health and wellness sources. Additionally, as an ACE Fitness Professional, it is a requirement that I complete a certain amount of continuing education courses to maintain my certifications.

Do you have any experience working with clients on nutrition and lifestyle changes?

While I am not a licensed nutritionist, nor a registered dietitian, I do offer nutrition coaching and nutrition education resources. This comes in the form of mindful eating education, lifestyle nutrition resources, accountability calls, tracking resources, etc.

In a nutshell, what services do you currently offer?

At this time, I offer personal training (online or in-person), Zumba, Zumba Gold and Line Dancing classes (scheduled or by request), Silver Sneakers classes by request, Kettlebell classes at the Highland YMCA, and one-on-one nutrition coaching.

Stay the course.

It all matters.
